Author(s): Kathryn Puseman
Year: 2004
Summary
A total of five bulk soil samples from along the Lower Pecos River near Carlsbad, New
Mexico, were floated to recover organic fragments suitable for radiocarbon analysis. These
samples were collected as part of the paleoflood frequency analyses for Brantley and Avalon
Dams. Botanic components and detrital charcoal were identified, and potentially radiocarbon
datable material was separated.
