POLLEN ANALYSIS FOR THE BURRO FLATS TRENCH SITE, CALIFORNIA
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; R.A. Varney; Jaime Dexter
Year: 2005
Summary
Five samples from an overlying peat and underlying silt and mud layers within the most
recent surface rupture at the Burro Flats Trench Site northeast of the town of Banning in
Southern California were submitted for pollen analysis. The analysis was performed in order to
determine whether the rupture can be associated with the 1812 Wrightwood earthquake or the
Coachella Valley earthquake, circa 1700.
