POLLEN ANALYSIS FOR THE BIG CHICO CREEK ECOLOGICAL RESERVE, CALIFORNIA
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 2006
Summary
Four sediment samples and a single ground stone from the Big Chico Creek Ecological
Reserve were submitted for pollen and starch analysis. This area is part of the Chico State
BCCER project. The sediment samples represent individual levels and comprise an informal
stratigraphic record. Pollen analysis was undertaken to document prehistoric vegetation during
the time represented by these sediments and to examine the metate surface for evidence of
food processing.
