A single charcoal sample was collected from a float sample taken out of a large

charcoal stain at the Akers Ferry site, 23SH23, Missouri. This feature is believed to represent a

Merchant Mississippian pit house. The charcoal sample was submitted for identification and

AMS radiocarbon analysis.
