POLLEN ANALYSIS OF SAMPLES FROM GRANARY HOUSE AND LAVA RIDGE RUIN, SHIVOWITZ PLATEAU, ARIZONA
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; R.A. Varney
Year: 2007
Summary
Lava Ridge Ruin and Granary House, located on the Shivwits Plateau in northern
Arizona, were excavated and sampled for pollen during the summer of 2007. Floors were
difficult to define at both villages, so pollen samples were collected from fill that represented
occupation and might be associated with floors. Pollen analysis was undertaken to identify
foods processed and cultigens grown at these two small villages.
