Author(s): Kathryn Puseman; Melissa K. Logan

Year: 2009

Summary

Macrofloral analysis was conducted on samples recovered from features at the Reaves

Site (42DA536) and the Finch Draw Site (42DA1269) in the Ashley National Forest, Utah. The

Reaves Site consists of three Archaic roasting pits and three Fremont roasting pits. Macrofloral

samples were submitted from the fill of an Archaic roasting pit and the fill of a Fremont roasting

pit that is intrusive into the Archaic pit. The Finch Draw Site contains two rockshelters.

Samples were examined from an Archaic period grass-lined pit in Rockshelter A and from the fill

of two roasting pits, an informal hearth, and an undefined thermal feature in Rockshelter B.

Macrofloral analysis will be used to provide subsistence information concerning plant resources

utilized by the various prehistoric occupants of these sites.
