POLLEN ANALYSIS AT THE LOS HORNOS SITE IN CENTRAL ARIZONA

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings

Year: 1988

Summary

Eighteen pollen samples were analyzed from 14 features at the Los

Hornos Site. The majority of these features are pithouses, the floors of

which were sampled as composite pollen samples. A total of nine pithouses

were examined and two ramada/pithouses. A single hearth is represented, and

another sample was collected from the floor near a hearth. Both hearths

were contained inside pithouses. Pollen analysis focused on the

identification of pollen representing economic plants, and hence subsistence

activities within these structures.
