SUMMARY OF POLLEN, MACROFLORAL, PHYTOLITH, AND CHARCOAL ANALYSES FOR THE AMOCO PIPELINE IN CENTRAL WYOMING
Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings
Year: 1988
Summary
A total of 208 pollen, 172 macrofloral, 87 charcoal, and 10 phytolith
samples were examined in the course of this project. Analysis of the pollen
record sought to provide information both about the local vegetation, and
concerning subsistence activities. Macrofloral analysis was aimed at the
identification of charred remains that would shed light on subsistence
activites. Charcoal analysis provided information concerning the
exploitation of local resources for fuel by the occupants of the various
sites and site areas. Examination of a trial number of phytolith samples
was geared toward obtaining either paleoenvironmental and/or subsistence
data.
