POLLEN AND PHYTOLITH ANALYSIS OF SEDIMENTS FROM ISLANDS IN THE SNAKE RIVER, IDAHO

Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; Thomas E. Moutoux

Year: 2000

Summary

A series of islands in the Snake River are examined for pollen and/or phytoliths to assist

in identifying vegetation that can be interpreted to indicate the stage of emergence of these islands

at various stages during the past. Stratigraphic sediments from each island are examined to

provide a reconstruction of past vegetation. Phytoliths are examined from five separate islands to

assist in this reconstruction.
