Author(s): Linda Scott Cummings; Thomas E. Moutoux

Year: 1998

Summary

Pollen analysis was conducted on 25 samples from site AZ N:7:81 (ASM), located on the

Yavapai-Prescott Indian Reservation in Prescott, Arizona. The primary structure at this site was

an above-ground masonry structure accompanied by an extensive trash midden and at least 2

burials. Occupation represents the Prescott culture and has not yet been dated at this site. A

later rock ring structure was noted superimposed on the masonry structure. Check dams were

observed on the south/southwest slope. Pollen analysis was undertaken at this site to examine

prehistoric vegetation at the time of vegetation, plants utilized by occupants at this site, plants

discarded in the trash midden, and plants that might have been included with the burials.
