Author(s): Carol Poplin

Year: 2004

Summary

"From 2-4 August 2004, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an intensive Phase I cultural resources survey of improvements to the SC Route 9/S-57 intersection in Horry County, South Carolina. This survey was conducted for CECS on behalf of the South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) in Columbia. Background research identified two historic houses, 310 501 and 310 502, and one historic cemetery, 310 513, within the architectural APE. All of these resources are not eligible for the NRHP. The cemetery is protected under state cemetery laws. The cemetery is well outside the archaeological APE and will not be impacted by the intersection improvements project. We did not identify and archaeological sites during the field investigations. Improvements to the SC Route 9/S-57 intersection will not affect any historic properties."
