Finding Aid, Corps of Engineers Salvage Projects 1969-1982

Summary

The Veterans Curation Program utilizes the standard archival practice of unique naming of collections. The purpose of this practice is to avoid redundant and confusing collection names commonly found with archaeological investigations. Therefore, this collection is referred to as “Corps of Engineers Salvage Projects 1969–1982.” This name is consistent throughout the finding aid, the file folders, and the box labels. The extent of this collection is two and a half linear inches.

Corps of Engineers Salvage Projects 1969–1982 was received in two acidic folders and in an acidic box with other document collections. The different document collections were processed separately according to the original housing. There was no discernable organization, and the document collection was in fair condition.

Seven oversized items were removed from this document collection. Although the collection contained several newspaper clippings, only one was oversized. Two of the oversized items were maps of the project area. The remaining four oversized items were large maps of the project area that were associated with correspondence. These items were removed from the collection, flattened, and placed in oversized storage.

One photographic item was removed from this document collection. The photograph in this collection was a map of a project area that was printed on high–gloss photography paper.
