This letter serves as comment from the State Historic Preservation Officer, the Executive Director of the Texas Historical Commission regarding the draft report: “Archaeological Eligibility Testing of 23 Sites on Lackland Air Force Base, Bexar County, Texas.” The letter raises concern that the Texas Historical Commission wasn’t notified or consulted before the archaeological undertaking at the 23 Lackland sites. Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 has been sited by the Texas Historical Commission in regards to this project.
