A Cultural Resource Survey for the Replacement of 12 Poles along SRP's 69-kV Transmission Line, Between Fountain Hills and Rio Verde, Maricopa County, Arizona

Author(s): Matt McDermott; Jason Ramsey

Year: 2004

Summary

The Salt River Project Agricultural Improvement and Power District (SRP) maintains a 69-kilovolt (kV) transmission line between the Glenbrook substation in Fountain Hills and the Rio Verde substation in the community of Rio Verde in Maricopa County, Arizona (Figure 1). The transmission line is currently supported by 30-year-old wooden poles and generally follows the alignment of McDowell Mountain Drive. In order to improve the overall safety and durability of the Glenbrook to Rio Verde 69-kV transmission line, SRP proposes to replace 12 wooden poles with metal poles. The 12 pole replacement locations will be distributed throughout approximately 8.5 miles of the Glenbrook to Rio Verde 69-kV transmission line.
