Letter from Stan Graves to Walter L. Winters, Corrections to March 19th Letter, Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Author(s): Stanley O. Graves

Year: 1992

Summary

On March 19, 1992, Demetrio Jimenez met with Kelly Air Force Base representatives and Col. Ray to discuss the proposed "Defense Commissary Agency Superstore" in Fort Sam Houston. A new alternative was discussed at the meeting that would constitute a possible Adverse Effect on the housing area adjacent to Leonard Wood Field (Buildings 701, 703, 705, 707, 709, 711, 713, 715, 717, 719, and 721). Originally the Superstore would only affect Building 371 and 372, both of which are eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. The Texas Historical Commission recommends that a Memorandum of Agreement regarding the undertaking would be appropriate to clearly define each entity's responsibilities and to mitigate the effects on these historic properties within the area of potential effect.
