Letter from Michael Grizer to Mark Wolfe, Installation of Canopies at Building 2791, Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Author(s): Michael J. Grizer

Year: 2011

Summary

Joint Base San Antonio Fort Sam Houston is proposing an undertaking to install canopies over the four entrances on the primary façade of building 2791. Constructed in 1939, building 2791 is a property eligible for the National Register of Historic Places and within Fort Sam Houston’s Conservation District. Constructed as a troop barracks building, building 2791 is still being used for its original purpose.

After careful examination of this proposal, the JB-SA Cultural Resource Staff has determined this undertaking will result in no adverse effect. This determination is based on the fact that the alterations are reversible and the installation will not damage or alter any of the character defining features of the property.
