Letter from the Department of the Army to the Texas Historical Commission, Fort Sam Houston, Texas

Year: 2010

Summary

Fort Sam Houston, through the Residential Communities Initiative (RCI) partnership with Lincoln Military Housing is proposing an undertaking to alter the area identified as the laundry porch at Staff Post 9. Staff Post 9 is a property eligible for the national Register of Historic Places and is a contributing element to the Fort Sam Houston National Historic Landmark District.

After careful examination of this proposal, the FSH Cultural Resource Staff has determined this undertaking will result in no adverse effect. This determination is based on the fact that the space to be altered is on the far northeast corner of the property and is not visible from the primary façade. Additionally, other areas of the porch adjacent to this area have been fully enclosed.
