Summary
This is the original draft nomination form for the SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment) building. The facility was constructed in 1956-1957 as a 150-foot square, four-story tall, windowless, reinforced concrete structure designed to withstand missile attacks. The SAGE building functioned to hold extensive computer and communications systems that coordinated all air defense components of the U.S. air defense system. No original equipment remains in the building; however, the interior configuration of spaces remains the same. The nomination form includes background research, photographs, a facility plan map, and a topographic location map.
