Summary

National Register of Historic Places Inventory-Nomination Form for the Hartshorne-Harker House or Quarters One (Fort Dix Commanding General's Quarter) at Fort Dix.

Quarters One, built in 1848, is one of two structures within the confines of Fort Dix, New Jersey, that predate construction of the installation and is among the oldest structures on the post. The driveway was originally the main road into Camp Dix, the precursor of the present Fort Dix, until construction of the present traffic circle and road. The house reflects the basic house type characteristic of Burlington County in the nineteenth century and suggests the historic agricultural base o f this area.

Nomination form includes related correspondence, background research, maps, and photographs.
