77th Regional Support Command Cultural Resource Management Plan, Volume 2: Regional Training Site (Intelligence), Fort Dix, Burlington County, New Jersey
Author(s): U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New York District
Year: 1995
Summary
This is a draft cultural resource management plan for the Regional Training Site (Intelligence) and the Equipment Concentration Site (ECS) #27 at Fort Dix.
Based on the topographic location of this facility, historic map research, and subsurface testing, no further archaeological work is recommended for the Regional Training Site (Intelligence) property. Building 6558 is probably not eligible for the New Jersey State or National Register of Historic Places as an individual structure but may be a contributing element of a historic district. A survey of post-1933 structures at Fort Dix has been proposed and will probably take this building into account.
In regards to the Equipment Concentration Site, work proposed for the grass covered Range Road frontage of the property should be preceded by a detailed examination of the 1985 cultural resources assessment testing records (Louis Berger & Associates, Inc. and Heritage Studies Inc. 1985) by a qualified archaeologist. This work coupled with a pedestrian survey of the area of should determine if additional archaeological testing is warranted. No further work is needed in area that presently covered by buildings or pavement. The structures are not eligible for the New Jersey State or National Register of Historic Places and no further architectural studies are recommended.
This is Volume 2 of the report and includes the Appendices B-F. It also includes the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection, Historic Preservation Office, Individual Structure Survey Form for each building.
