Summary
The U.S. Army contracted Foster Wheeler Environmental Corporation, and its subcontractor John Milner Associates, Inc., to complete an architectural investigation for the proposed demolition of Buildings 5311, 5319, 5321, 6510, 6608, 6621, and 6622 on Fort Dix, New Hanover Township, Burlington County, New Jersey. The investigation was completed in accordance with Section 106 of National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the New Jersey Historic Preservation Office (NJHPO) guidelines for architectural history survey. Buildings 5311, 5319, 5321, 6510, 6608, 6621, and 6622 represent World War II period facilities built to standard Army T.O. 700 series design plans used at many installations throughout the United States. Field investigations included photo documentation of existing conditions and completion of New Jersey Historic Sites Inventory Individual Structure Survey Forms. The investigation assessed Buildings 5311, 5319, 5321, 6510, 6608, 6621, and 6622 as lacking architectural significance or a significant role in United States military or civilian history or Fort Dix history. The investigation recommended Buildings 5311, 5319, 5321, 6510, 6608, 6621, and 6622 not eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places and not eligible for Pinelands Designation. The investigation recommended no further documentation of the buildings.
