Summary

This work plan is submitted in compliance with the scope of work issued by the Department of the Army, Baltimore District, Corps of Engineers (COE) on June 7, 1995. The scope of work encompasses Phase 1 Archaeological Survey of a portion of a parcel of land in what is known as Site W at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, as well as Phase II Archaeological Testing of two sites identified by COE staff during a previous Phase I survey of remaining acreage within Site W. One of the sites is described as an early nineteenth century historic site and the other is described as a Late Archaic prehistoric site.

Summaries of each task specified in the scope of work are provided below with a preliminary schedule for initiation and completion of the tasks. Tasks 1 and 2 involve background research and fieldwork and Task 3 encompasses laboratory work. Task 4 involves preparation of the project reports. The prehistoric site testing component of Task 2 will precede simultaneously with background research for the Task 1 survey of Area 1 and the historic site testing of Task 2. Milestones for the project are discussed at the end of this plan of work.
