Summary
This is the Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties Archeological Site Survey, Basic Data Report for the Site T3, 18CH215. This site is located on the north bank of the Potomac River about 200m east of the tip of Blossom Point, between the river's edge and a lookout tower. It covers an area 100 feet long and 50 feet wide.
The midden is characterized by a thin shell cap, 6-8 inches in thickness. Shells within this cap are whole to broken valves scattered throughout the lens. The surface of this midden is highly disturbed as evidenced by an open utility trench which parallels the shoreline in front of Building S202. Numerous other drain pipes have been emplaced in the midden which is also being actively eroded along its length.
