Summary

This report is a Maryland Inventory of Historic Properties Archeological Site Survey, Basic Data Report for the site T17, 18CH229. This site is located on the east side of Cedar Point Neck, 200m west of the Potomac, and about 1.3 km north of Upper Cedar Point. The site is in a disced firebreak and is bisected by a road.

This historic artifact scatter has a similar spatial distribution as site 18CH228. No structure or dense concentrations of material were noted. As historic artifacts were noted on both sides of the road, it is assumed that this site has either been bisected or otherwise disturbed by road building an subsequent discing of the shoulders. Historic artifacts observed included fragments of dark green bottle glass, bricks, earthenware, porcelain, and stoneware. These remains, which date from the last half of the 19th century and the early 20th century, likely are from a disturbed dump. However, no association could be made with a structural site.
