Summary
Under the terms of an inter agency agreement between the U. S. Air Force Military Airlift Command (MAC) and the National Park Service (NPS), a nationwide program to assess the potential for the presence of significant cultural resources on properties owned by or under the control of the MAC is being conducted by the NPS. Personnel from Interagency Archeological Services Branch (IAS Branch), Division of National Register Programs, Western Region, NPS, visited Travis Air Force Base (Travis AFB), Solano County, California, on November 21, 1986, and on March 5, 1987, to undertake a preliminary field assessment of the Base facilities, to review historic and land-use records held at the Base and to provide recommendations to the Base and the MAC on the appropriate management of the cultural resources present on the facility and its several discontiguous properties.
