Class III Archaeological Survey of 1,035 Acres for the Planet Ranch Multi-Species Conservation Program Project Near Parker, Mohave County, Arizona

Editor(s): Josh Whiting

Year: 2018

Summary

The Bureau of Reclamation, Lower Colorado Region plans to conduct a native plant habitat restoration project within 1,035 acres of property managed by the Arizona Game and Fish Department (AZGFD). The Lower Colorado River Multi-Species Conservation Program (LCR MSCP) is a federal and non-federal partnership that aims to balance the use of LCR water resources and the conservation of native species and their habitats in compliance with the Endangered Species Act. Presently, the entire project area is comprised of active and abandoned/fallow agricultural fields. Back-dirt excavated from ponds that will be used to rear endangered native fish species will be spread across the fields and the fields will be replanted with native upland species. This inventory was conducted in advance of this ground disturbance and to collect information on the distribution and character of all cultural resources, assess each historic property’s condition and integrity, and to evaluate eligibility under the National Register of Historic Places (National Register or NRHP).
