Summary
The Las Vegas Mission was established in 1855 by Mormon missionaries in the center of the Las Vegas Valley along Las Vegas Creek. One purpose for the establishment of the mission was to convert the native people whom the Mormons referred to as "Lamanites" to Mormonism.
