Summary

The Desert Research Institute (DRI) received a request from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Administration Nevada Site Office (NNSA/NSO) to conduct a Class III cultural resources inventory of the proposed Underground Test Area EREC- 13 Well Pad and Access Road, Range EC South, Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR), Nye County, Nevada (Figures 1-2). On August 11 and 12, 2009, DRI archaeologists surveyed the proposed well pad and access road and found site 26NY13697, a small lithic artifact scatter, and one isolated artifact. Site 26NY13697 consists of eight lithic flakes and does not meet the criteria for eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). DRI recommends that the project proceed as planned as long as all activities remain within the surveyed area.
