Part of the Nellis Air Force Base (DRAFT) project

Year: 2007

Summary

The 99th Range Wing has proposed an upgrade to Training Ranges 6 and 6A at the Silver Flag Alpha facilities 15 miles southeast of Indian Springs and Creech Air Force Base, Clark County, Nevada. The Area of Potential Effect is 45 acres. The location is shown in Maps 1 and 3. The upgrade would consist of excavating trenches, depicted in Feature 1, within the current boundaries of Ranges 6 and 6A. The APE has been used for small arms training for decades, thus unexploded ordnance remains. The Silver Flag Alpha ranges were visited on 7 June, documented in Figure 2. Figures 3 and 4 show signs indicating that visitors cannot enter the ranges without Explosive Ordnance Disposal officials. Figures 5 and 6 show areas that are adjacent to the ranges.
