Annual Report: Archaeological Survey and Evaluation Fort Richardson and Fort Wainwright, 2003
Part of the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson Resources project
Author(s): Aaron Robertson; Nancy Fichter; Kirsten Anderson
Year: 2004
Summary
Firing fans for training ranges constructed in 2003 and to be constructed in 2004 were the primary focus of archaeological work at Fort Richardson in 2003. These ranges include a multi-purpose training range, an Infantry Platoon Battle Course (IPBC), an Infantry Course (IPBC), and an infantry Squad Battle Course (ISBC) located in the southeastern section of Fort Richardson. Firing fans and their subsequent area of potential effect for these training ranges were estimated based on projected non-duded and duded munitions ranges. Additional archaeological fieldwork involved survey of bank stabilization areas along Ship creek and an easement proposed for Municipal Light and Power utilization. This report details this fieldwork.
