Summary

The Plan includes a brief overview of the prehistory and history of the region; an inventory of all known National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) eligible or potentially eligible archaeological sites and historic buildings and structures; recommended treatment for known cultural resources; strategies for compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, policies, and procedures; and standards for cultural resource documentation. It also identifies the likely presence of other cultural resources, and provides standard operating procedures and action plans which coordinate with the installation mission. Previous archaeological investigations at Cape Canaveral have yielded knowledge of a total of 56 archaeological sites, including 2 NRHP-eligible sites and 17 potentially eligible sites.
