Summary

Launch Complex 30 (LC-30) was not adequately assessed to determine if the complex and/or the facilities within were eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The Civil Engineering Squadron/Installation Management and Environmental Element (CES/CEIE), 45th Space Wing (45 SW) conducted a survey in April and May 2014 to determine if the complex and its individual buildings and structures were NRHP.

Launch Complex 30 (8BR2272) is recommended eligible as a historic district at the national level of significance under Criterion A in the area of military research and development and the Cold War for its association with significant events in the history of the US Army’s Pershing IRBM missile program as well as the US Navy’s MK 48 torpedo and Trident SLBM programs. Launch Complex 30 (8BR2272) is also recommended eligible under Criterion C in the area of architecture and engineering as a unified group of facilities that share distinctive architectural characteristics. It is also eligible under Criterion D for its potential to yield information important in history of the US missile program and the design and construction of launch complexes.
