Summary

The purpose of this project was to develop and submit a comprehensive and detailed preservation planning document for the battlefield that encompasses the Battle of the Wabash (1791) and the Battle of Fort Recovery (1794), two significant battles in the Northwest Indian Wars. This preservation planning document details short and long term planning goals (1 year, 5 year, 10 year, and beyond) for future community development and battlefield preservation. Based on current community input, these goals focused on mitigating site destruction and creating space within the battlefield boundary dedicated to public education. Additional preservation and protection goals and plans were identified and developed through a series of community consensus and planning meetings, research exhibits, and public presentations.
