ROI102, Results of 2016 Archaeological Excavations and Ground Penetrating Radar Survey at Fort Recovery, Mercer County, Ohio

Summary

Archaeology conducted at Fort Recovery attempted to achieve three interrelated goals. The primary educational objective of the 2016 Ball State University historical archaeology field school was to provide archaeological excavation instruction to BSU anthropology students. Our second project goal, and the main purpose of archaeological excavations, was to identify archaeological deposits and features potentially associated with Fort Recovery, constructed in 1793. A third goal of the 2016 historical archaeology field school was to engage in public outreach and offer an archaeologically oriented educational opportunity to the public. This technical report provides historical and archaeological context to supplement the research results.
