Summary
This document is a Section 106 SHPO Transmittal Letter for the Gaseous Nitrous (GN2) Tie-in, Vegetation Clearing, and Grading Project. The purpose of the Project is to install temporary storage tanks and utilize pump units to transfer GN2 from these tanks to an existing above ground tie-in riser that connects to a pipeline that runs to Space Launch Complex 6. The base archaeologist, in consultation with the project engineer, established the Area of Direct Impact (ADI) based on the maximum extent of all activities associated with this undertaking. The ADI also included a sufficient buffer to ensure adequate space to accommodate any unforeseen contingencies. Vandenberg Air Force Base is seeking concurrence from the State Historic Preservation Office that 1) the APE for the Clear Vegetation and Grading at GN2 Project is adequately delineated, and 2) all surveys and research demonstrate that there are no historic properties within the Area of Potential Effects (APE).
