Goodfellow Air Force Base: Archaeological Inventory of Proposed Housing Development Tract, Parcel G, Goodfellow Air Force Base, Texas

Year: 2007

Summary

In September 2006 an archaeological survey of 120 acres, commissioned by Air Education and Training Command (AETC), was conducted on Parcel G of Goodfellow Air Force Base (AFB) by Geo-Marine, Inc. (GMI) in support of land acquisition for privatized military family housing.

The archaeological survey resulted in the relocation of site 41TG218 and the discovery of two new archaeological sites (41TG607 and 41TG608). Given that the proposed project is designating a 300-foot-wide buffer zone along the Concho River, the proposed construction activities would not impact sites 41TG218 and 41TG607. Therefore, the proposed project would have no effect on historic properties. No further archaeological investigations are necessary.
