Strength and toughness in spiculate tempered pottery dataset

Summary

This dataset includes information related to a series of experimental ceramic assemblages created to test the relationship between temper type and the performance characteristics of strength and toughness. Three temper groups were created: untempered, sand-tempered, and fused silica (as a proxy for siliceous sponge spicules) tempered. Each temper group was divided into to firing temperatures: 500C and 700C. All samples were subjected to testing with a Mark-10 ESM303 motorized test stand equipped with an M5-300 force gauge and three-point bend apparatus.
