New Mexico Cultural Resources Information System (NMCRIS) Investigation Abstract Form (NIAF): Cultural Resources Survey of a Proposed Eubank Gate Visitor Center, Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernalillo County, New Mexico

Summary

Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) proposes to construct a Visitor Center at the intersection of Eubank Blvd. and the installation boundary in Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The proposed Visitor Center will be constructed solely within the boundaries of KAFB and funding is from federal (DoD) sources. The project encompasses an area of 2 acres (0.8 hectares) which has been previously developed. In addition to the proposed Visitor Center building, a new driveway, parking lot, fences, and landscaping will be constructed as part of this project.

A cultural resource survey was conducted by David H Reynolds and Valerie Renner on July 19, 2013. No archaeological materials, sites, or features were identified during the survey within the project area. No historic structures or districts were located within 500 meters (1,640 feet) of the project area.
