Cultural Resources Survey of the Madera Canyon Road Extension/DOE
Summary
This report documents the performance and findings of an archaeological survey conducted on approximately 7.6 acres of the Sandia Ranger District. A constructed feature, AR 03-03-05-167, composed of arranged rock and dirt fill was located in the area of the planned change in road alignment. This feature is very likely to have served as a check dam. Due to the lack of any cultural material onsite or other kinds of cultural resource sites within the vicinity, no cultural affiliation, classification, or time period could be assigned. Project was redesigned to avoid the check dam. No other evidence of cultural resources were found within the remainder of the proposed project area.
