Cultural Resources Survey for a Proposed Fire Extinguisher Training Site, Area IV, Sandia National Laboratories, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico

Author(s): Steven R. Hoagland

Year: 1990

Summary

An archaeological survey of approximately 0.44 acres of property scheduled for construction of a proposed fire extinguisher training site in Area IV, Sandia National Laboratories, Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, yielded no cultural resources. The survey included a 0.23 acre area proposed for construction of the training site and a 0. 21 acre area located directly to the east. The additional area was inventoried, as at the time the fieldwork was conducted, it was unknown whether the training-site would have be moved out of an existing firing area which included the western portion of the proposed area.

Since no significant cultural resources will be effected by the proposed undertaking, cultural resource clearance is recommended for construction of a 0.23 acre area for use as a fire extinguisher training site.
