Summary

An archaeological survey of approximately 0.9 acres of property situated within Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB), Bernalillo County, New Mexico, yielded no significant cultural resources.

The permit area has been extensively disturbed by previous construction. Potentially due to this previous disturbance and, to the general limited number of archaeological sites located on the western mountain piedmont slope, no significant cultural resources were located. The results of this survey concurs with a previous cultural resource inventory conducted for Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) Management Area B, which included this proposed permit locale. This survey was conducted by the Center for Anthropological studies in 1979 (Rodgers 1980). No significant archaeological sites or isolated occurrences were located within the DACA 47-4-70-1 Use Permit area. Based on the apparent lack of significant intact archaeological remains, cultural resources clearance is recommended.
