Cultural Resources Survey of 4.2 Acres for a Sandia National Laboratories Proposed Road, Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico

Author(s): Steven R. Hoagland

Year: 1991

Summary

An archaeological survey of approximately 4.2 acres of property located within Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, yielded no cultural resources. It was preformed prior to construction of an access route to connect two existing facilities. The approximately 1.4 kilometers (0.87 mile) long connecting road was surveyed to a width of 12 meters (40 feet).

This proposed road is situated within an area previously inventoried during the Kirtland Air Force Base, Management Area B survey (Rodgers 1980). No significant cultural resources were located within the proposed access alignment during the previous nor current archaeological surveys. Cultural resource clearance is, therefore, recommended for construction of the proposed access route as no significant cultural resources will be effected by the proposed undertaking.
