Cultural Resources Survey Tunnel Canyon, Sandia Ranger District, Cibola National Forest
Summary
A survey was done on 5 acres of Sandia District of the Cibola National Forest for a project involving closing a road to an area which has been used for target practice. It is trashed and worn and will be rehabilitated by cleaning (broken glass in particular) and mulching and planting grass. In addition a small parking lot will be constructed just off the highway for recreation users of the area (not including shooting, since this activity is now prohibited on the Sandia District). Heavy equipment will be used to accomplish this project. No evidence of cultural material was found.
