Cultural Resources Regulatory Analysis, Area Overview, and Assessment of Previous Department of Energy and Kirtland Air Force Base Inventories for Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico

Summary

The following regulatory analysis and literature review of archaeological and historic resources on the Sandia National Laboratory/New Mexico (SNL/NM) occupied properties was prepared by the Chambers Group Inc. in January 1992. Based upon compliance surveys of Technical Area I through V undertaken in 1990 and 1991 the report concludes that, although consultation with the Department of Energy and State Historic Preservation Officer will still be required for particular projects, cultural resources should not affect the overall planning and development of future Sandia National Laboratory/New Mexico projects. As Sandia National Laboratory/New Mexico buildings approach 50 years in age additional analysis and consultations may be required. In order to protect sensitive resources, the location coordinates and maps provided in the original report are not included here.
