Summary

An archaeological inventory survey was completed for a 3.6 acre (1.4 ha) parcel of land that is proposed to be graded for the construction of a road. A pre-field records search was performed using the New Mexico Cultural Resources Information System maintained by the Archaeological Resources Management Section (ARMS) at the New Mexico State Historic Preservation Division, and topographic maps provided by the U.S. Forest Service, Cibola National Forest (USFS). The search indicated that at least 12 archaeological surveys have been completed in the vicinity of the current project and that 19 known archaeological resources exist within a 1-mile radius of the proposed project area.

No significant cultural resources were found during the inventory survey. Considerable recent historic debris from sled track tests was found. Based on the results of the record search and the inventory survey, it is recommended that no further archaeological studies be completed in regards to the current proposed project.
