Cultural Resources Inventory for the High Energy Research and Technology Facility, Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernalillo County, Hew Mexico

Summary

During the summer of 1997, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' archaeologists conducted an intensive cultural resources inventory of approximately 15.0 hectares (37.0 acres) at Kirtland Air Force Base in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The survey was conducted for the High Energy Research and Technology Facility in anticipation of activities that include utilizations of existing dirt roads and the construction of support facilities such as the Motel 66 Test Range parking lot. With the exception of four isolated artifacts, Corps archaeologists found no historic properties or cultural resources during the investigation. The Corps is of the opinion that the proposed project will have no effect on cultural or historic resources of the area.

Includes Laboratory of Anthropology Site Records for LA 71432 and LA 113905; a completed USDA Inventory Standards and Accounting form for the Survey; and correspondence.
