Cultural Resources Inventory for the Proposed Construction: Advanced Laser Research Facility, Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernalillo County, New Mexico

Summary

During the winter of 1997, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers archaeologists conducted an intensive cultural resources inventory of approximately 1.3 hectares (3.2 acres) at Kirtland Air Force Base in Bernalillo County, New Mexico. The survey was conducted in anticipation of activities that include the construction of the proposed Advanced Laser Research Facility, the utilization of a borrow area, and the demolition of several older buildings. The Corps found no cultural resources or historically significant structures, and no other historic or cultural properties were identified by the resources investigation. The Corps is of the opinion that the proposed project will have no effect on cultural or historic resources of the area.
