National Register of Historic Places Eligibility Testing of LA 48098, LA 69739, LA 88116, and LA 134236 Kirtland Air Force Base, Bernalillo County New Mexico

Summary

In the period between January and June of 2004, engineering-environmental Management, Inc., (e2M) conducted a cultural resources update and testing project of four sites at Kirtland Air Force Base to determine their eligibility to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The results of the testing and evaluation for sites LA 48098, LA 69739, LA 88116, and LA 134236 are documented in this report. Each of the sites had been previously recorded, but further testing was recommended in order to determine eligibility. LA 48098 and LA 88116, were determined by e2M to be potentially eligible to the National Register of Historic Places under Criterion d of Section 110 and should be managed and protected accordingly. The two remaining sites, LA 69739 and LA 134236, were determined to be ineligible to the National Register of Historic Places and are recommended as requiring no further management or protection. New site LA 146666 was located in the vicinity of LA 48098. This Middle Archaic lithic artifact scatter is recommended eligible to the National Register of Historic Places. Individual site LA forms are provided in Appendix A.
