Summary
This is an abstract from the session entitled "Paper / Report Submission (General Sessions)" , at the 2022 annual meeting of the Society for Historical Archaeology.
Excavation of the ca. 1720s-1770s William and Mary Goe plantation examined 116 cultural features including three privies, the cellar of a possible log dwelling, two likely dwellings for enslaved workers, fence lines, and 23 pit features. We provide an overview of the analytical approach used to determine functions of the pit features based on morphology and contents, particularly faunal remains and vessel forms.
