Phase I Archaeological Survey of 250 Acres at the Arnold Engineering and Development Center, Coffee County, Tennessee

Author(s): Charles E. Cantley

Year: 1994

Summary

This report presents the results of an intensive Phase I archeological survey of the Rowland Creek and the ASTF Laydown ADJ Par Course survey tracts totaling 250 acres at the Arnold Engineering and Development Center in Coffee County, Tennessee. The purpose of the survey was to determine the potential impact that future construction would have on any previously unidentified cultural resources in the area. The results of the background research and the intensive survey of the Rowland Creek and the ASTF Laydown ADJ Par Course survey tracts failed to identify prehistoric or historic cultural resources which could be considered eligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places in either area. Therefore, the proposed construction activities present no adverse impacts on cultural resources, and no additional archeological work within the project area is recommended.
